Batterer's Intervention Program

All Batterer's Intervention Groups and Orientations are CANCELLED until further notice. 

Alternatives to Abuse is Safe Voices' state-certified Batterer's Intervention Program. This 48-week educational program focuses on accountability for people who use abusive behaviors while teaching healthy relationship skills to replace tactics of abuse. It is certified by the Maine Department of Corrections and participants are referred through the courts, probation, DHHS, or are self-referred. Groups are offered for both men and women. Alternatives to Abuse is the only fee-based service provided by Safe Voices, with a sliding fee scale based on income.

For all locations, bring the following to your Orientation: 
*you may still attend Orientation without these documents 

  1. Police Report
  2. Conditions of Release
  3. Proof of Income

*You do not need to pre-register.  Simply show up on a date indicated below with your payment and the documents listed above (if available)

*You MUST arrive on time to your Orientation or you will NOT be admitted and will have to wait until the next Orientation to participate.

*Any changes to Orientation schedule will be posted on this page as soon as that information is available.  Please check here for weather-related delays or cancellations.  

*Classes are offered throughout the week on different days and times.  Participants are assigned a class at Orientation based on scheduling needs and class capacity.  You will NOT be allowed to attend a class until you have attended an Orientation session.
