Housing Navigator
Safe Voices, a domestic violence and sex trafficking resource center serving Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties, is seeking a dynamic, creative, and engaging individual to fill the full-time role of Housing Navigator. This position is based in Androscoggin County and works with current and former shelter guests.
The housing navigator is responsible for assisting survivors of domestic violence in overcoming barriers to obtaining and maintaining housing. It actively collaborates with partnering agencies, community resources, as well as landlords to provide information and referrals necessary to meet the individual’s needs and housing stability for the program participants. The housing navigator provides client support by developing an individualized housing stability plan with clients and address any barriers to obtaining and maintaining permanent stable housing, this includes connecting to services, increase income as well as accessing mental health services and resources as needed.
Agency Activities:
- Attend and actively participate in staff development opportunities, trainings, meetings, agency events, and activities
- Participate in community committees and/or collaboratives as appropriate
- Attend and assist with agency fundraising activities and events
- Provide coverage on 24-hr Helpline as scheduled and requested
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Overnight Shelter and Housing Advocate
Safe Voices, a domestic violence and sex trafficking resource center serving Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties, is hiring for an Overnight Shelter and Housing Advocate. This position is based in Androscoggin County and has limited travel needs.
The Overnight Shelter and Housing Advocate is responsible for assisting with the operations and programming of the safe house and providing advocacy services during overnight hours to survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and sexual exploitation who are receiving emergency shelter services through Safe Voices safe house. This position is part-time (22 hours/week).
Individual Advocacy:
- Provide services in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Support comprehensive safety plans with persons served.
- Provide emotional support and validation that recognize and acknowledges the feelings experienced by the survivor.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of cultural and socioeconomic status.
- Take initiative on shelter and safe house operations and advocacy.
- Maintain and adhere to rules of the shelter and safe house.
- Complete required paperwork/documentation/data entry accurately, factually, concisely.
- Assist survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and exploitation to increase safety and reach individual goals.
- Offer supportive advocacy services, structure, and assistance around recovery plans as appropriate.
- Complete intakes, assessments, goal planning, and discharges from the safe house on an as-needed, emergency basis.
- Provide crisis intervention to individuals and families.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Communicate and collaborate with daytime staff via email and other forms of updates to ensure consistency and quality of services provided.
Safe House/Shelter operations and program responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day operations of safe house including monitoring and restocking food supplies, office/shelter supplies, donations, bedroom prepping, sorting items, house laundry, changing light bulbs, update resident chore lists as needed.
- Assist with internal office procedures/tasks.
- Monitor the maintenance of shelter and safe house, including electricity, heat, plumbing, security devices and when problems arise notify supervisor and arrange for a plan to repair.
Agency Activities:

- Attend and assist with agency fundraising activities and events as requested.

Shelter and Housing Program Manager
Safe Voices Domestic Violence Resource Center is seeking an experienced, dynamic and engaging individual to fill the full-time role of Shelter and Housing Program Manager. This position is based in Androscoggin County with some travel to Franklin County.

The Program Manager of Shelter and Housing Services is responsible for providing direct supervision to housing services staff, program management oversight and coordination of all daily shelter operations. The Program Manager of Shelter and Housing Services will play a key role in the direct oversight of our targeted case management MaineCare services, as well as many state and federal grant programs. Additionally, the Program Manager will have the opportunity to develop and manage new initiatives and programs for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Primary Duties:
- Provide direct supervision to shelter staff, including training and monitoring of new policies and procedures
- Daily program management, coordinate and monitor day to day shelter tasks and participate in program development and new initiatives
- Part of a team to provide on call support and response for shelter emergencies
- Oversee maintenance of the shelter and adherence to appropriate codes and laws
- Ensure shelter services are administered according to the highest best practice standards and are in compliance with agency policies and state and federal law
- Ensure documentation is accurate, timely and meets funding requirements.
- Actively participate in grant writing and research of proposals and complete accurate grant reporting and program billing
- Oversee Targeted Case Management MaineCare services and billing processes
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and partner agencies
Required Qualifications:
- Pass required background checks
- Experience with case management in a health or social service or related field
- Meet the requirements by the State of Maine to supervise MaineCare case management programs/services
- Knowledge of crisis intervention skills or techniques

Development Operations Assistant
Safe Voices Domestic Violence Resource Center is seeking an experienced, creative, detail-loving person to fill the full-time role of Development Operations Assistant. This position is based out of our Lewiston office and is planned to be in-person four days a week with an option of one day a week remote, if desired.
The development operations assistant is responsible for the day-to-day management of the agency’s donor database and the nuts and bolts that allow us to create an overarching annual fundraising plan. This position assists the director of development and engagement with event planning, goal setting, strategy creation, and day-to-day management of several key agency programs. The person hired to this position will be actively involved in donor cultivation and stewardship, including gift processing, acknowledgments, etc. As with every position within Safe Voices, the development operations assistant will provide advocacy on Safe Voices’ 24-hour helpline. Applicants should be interested in domestic violence and sex trafficking advocacy and prevention, because a commitment to the principals of that work informs how we do our development and engagement.
As of October 1, 2024, Safe Voices starting pay is $23.25 per hour. That is the minimum starting pay, and a new hire’s starting pay rate can be higher based on experience. Primary Duties/Essential Tasks:
- Data Management & Operations (approximately 20% of job duties):
- Data entry, gift processing, and reporting to maintain data integrity. Report and track donor data within Every Action, the agency’s donor management system, as well as other databases, payment platforms, etc.
- Process and record gifts made in outside platforms such as CyberGrants, United Way, Square, Venmo, Paypal/Facebook, and more.
- With director of D&E and colleagues in finance and bookkeeping, maintains accurate records and gift attributions.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Events & Fundraising (approximately 20-30% of job duties):
- Take a primary role in annual agency programs like municipal fundraising and adopt/feed-a-family.
- Oversee recurring gifts and provide technical support to donors needing to renew or update their giving information.
- Assist with planning and execution of all Safe Voices development and engagement events.
- Manage facilitation of in-kind donations, including donor outreach and working with shelter and advocacy staff to fill specific in-kind needs and monthly reporting to finance team.
- Staff Safe Voices’ signature fundraising events.
- Donor Relations & Community Engagement (approximately 20% of job duties):
- Support development and engagement donor relations and engagement efforts.
- Occasionally attend events for the purposes of community engagement, such as tabling, municipal meetings, and Business After Hours.
- Serve as the primary contact for businesses and organizations who want to hold “Benefits on Behalf” to raise funds and supplies for the agency.
- Resource Center Coordination (approximately 20% of job duties):
- Serve as a leader in the organization of our Free Boutique for survivors, ensuring supplies are stocked and well organized.
- Coordinate in-kind donations, including receipt and prepping for use, placement in Free Boutique, etc.
- Work with donors to fill specific needs in the space.
- Ensure donations to the Resource Center & Free Boutique are recorded and reported correctly.
- Partner with other staff to create plans to manage scheduling and reservations for other areas of the Resource Center

Prevention Educator
Safe Voices Domestic Violence and Sex Trafficking Resource Center is seeking an experienced, dynamic and engaging individual to fill the full-time role of Prevention Educator. This position is based in Androscoggin County, with time spent engaging audiences across Androscoggin, Oxford, and Franklin County.
The Prevention Educator is responsible for conducting training, presentations and public awareness campaigns across the tri-county area, as well as representing the agency in community meetings and events. This includes conducting prevention programming and advocacy for youth, including presentations, educational groups, and one on one support in both school settings and the community. Additionally, they will support Safe Voices efforts to strengthen the relationships between Safe Voices and a variety of stakeholders across the agency service area.
