DV Day at the Maine State House

Member organizations of the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence gathered at the State House Tuesday to raise awareness and honor victims of domestic violence homicide in Maine. Advocates recognized victims from all over the state and highlighted essential domestic violence services while pushing for the passage of three funding bills that could help close funding gaps. Several news organizations covered the event, and their coverage is compiled below:

“In our state, domestic violence is a primary driver of child abuse, of homicide and of incidents involving danger for law enforcement and families writ large.”

– Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence executive director Francine Garland Stark

Safe Voices would like to recognize and thank all of the staff members across Safe Voices and our partner Domestic Violence Resource Centers, as well as our colleagues at MCEDV, who dedicated this day to educating our state and our lawmakers about this vital work.
